University Honors College

Among the many contributions the Richard King Mellon Foundation made to the Unviersity of Pittsburgh throughout the Building Our Future Together campaign was $5 million in grant funding it provided to the University’s Honors College.  The University Honors College was established to meet the special academic and extracurricular needs of Pitt’s most able, motivated, and inquisitive undergraduate students by providing intellectual challenge, inspiring individual effort, and fostering independence of mind and self-discovery.

Nationally recognized for the quality of its academic programs, Pitt’s Honors College has helped its students earn Ivy League-caliber academic recognition, including multiple Goldwater scholarships, Truman scholarships, and six Rhodes and Marshall scholarships.
