The Cathedral of Learning is the most widely recognized symbol of the University of Pittsburgh, representing the University’s highest aspirations and serving as an enduring monument to the spirit of philanthropy. The Cathedral of Learning Society pays tribute to those outstanding individuals whose remarkable leadership support inspires others to recognize the transforming power of knowledge. Induction into the Cathedral of Learning Society is among the highest honors the University bestows.
Legacy Laureates
The Legacy Laureate program was launched in 2000 to honor University of Pittsburgh alumni for their outstanding personal and professional accomplishments.

Chancellor’s Circle Celebration
The Chancellor’s Circle Celebration honors donors who have made contributions of $1,000 or more during the fiscal year in support of University programs. The event takes place at Heinz Field every fall in conjunction with a Panthers Football Game.

1787 Society Luncheon
The University of Pittsburgh expresses its gratitude to the members of the 1787 Society who have made planned or deferred gifts to the University—regardless of size—through a bequest, annuity, trust, life insurance policy, or other planned or deferred gift opportunity. The 1787 Society celebrates philanthropy at an annual luncheon hosted by the University of Pittsburgh.
