Overview

GSPIA's mission is to prepare leaders with the skills, vision and knowledge to build a better world. Founded on and committed to the values of public service, diversity and excellence, GSPIA provides preeminent research and educational programs in public and international affairs. Our 7,000 alumni worldwide make a difference every day in careers spanning all sectors—public, private and nonprofit. Likewise, GSPIA’s fundraising campaign, Build a Better World, seeks those who believe in and want to support a collective ability to build a better world.

Campaign Priorities
• Provide greater support for master’s and doctoral students/candidates
• Enhance resources for faculty
• Increase resources via unrestricted gifts
• Strengthen research, innovation and public discussion of matters including but not limited to public service and diversity; human security; international security; public administration and local government management; international affairs.

Jean has been a member of GSPIA’s senior management team since 2003. In her current role Jean develops and implements the School’s priorities for alumni relations and development and other key initiatives of the Dean. Meeting and hearing from GSPIA’s alumni and friends in cities throughout the country and the world brings real meaning to Jean’s work at GSPIA, as does the knowledge that her efforts make a difference in the lives of our students and the mission of the school. Prior to joining GSPIA, Jean worked in health care administration in the areas of regulatory compliance and information systems and in higher education in the areas of corporate outreach, marketing and communications. Jean earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Management and Economics and a Master of Arts degree in Business and Policy Studies from the State University of New York.

Emily Twargowski joined the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs in 2006. Currently, she enhances alumni engagement through special events and programs, as well as research and data management. Previously, she worked as a special programs coordinator, supporting Career Services, international training seminars, and the executive masters program at GSPIA. After earning her B.A. in integrated arts from Penn State University, Emily worked in marketing in high tech and manufacturing sectors.
